Hunt House

Hunts Pond

Hunt House was the last of the original Hunt property buildings. It was demolished in December 2015. At one time, the Hunt Family ran it as a Boarding House called "Open Acres".

Located in the Taconic Mountains of southwestern Massachusetts, in the Town of Mount Washington, it was acquired by The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. It became part of the Mount Washington State Park Headquarters on East Street.

"The condition of the Hunt house (as viewed in photos) indicated it should be demolished, as there were no alternatives at this time.

It was unfortunate that the state never put anything into the building in all the years they owned it.

The Massachusetts Historical Commission and the Mount Washington Historical Commission were in agreement on the demolition of the Hunt House."
